I was thrilled when Anna's mom Susie asked me about photographing her daughter Anna and Terry's wedding, and that not having met yet, Anna and Terry trusted me to document their big day. Anna and Terry live in New York City, but Anna grew up in Falmouth and have since learned, we have many amazing mutual connections. Terry grew up in Medford, MA (near my old 'hood in Stoneham and Melrose) and I met his childhood next door neighbor Rob by happenstance one afternoon at Funky Bow Brewery's 4-year birthday party. I love how small our world can feel sometimes!
The weather behaved and the rain held off for their wedding day. The pier at the Dockside Grill in Falmouth was transformed into a beautiful, warm, inviting space for guests. Celia St. Onge was on point with her design and florals, including a cozy lounge just outside the tent -- I loved the area rug on the dock to create the dance floor! The ceremony backdrop was gorgeous! Anna's talented friend played guitar and sang for the ceremony, while friends and family officiated and gave readings that got the waterworks going. Super stoked to work with Northeast Media again to document some epic sweaty dancing and a killer show by the Boston band Hip Pocket Orchestra!
Anna and Terry each have three siblings -- four sisters and four brothers total -- and their parents are THE SWEETEST! Family is of utmost importance for these two and being able to witness everyone come together, now joined by Anna and Terry, was a beautiful thing. They looked perfect and the pure bliss on their faces was contagious. I had a perma-grin the entire day, just seeing these two soak in every moment of their celebration! Thank you for allowing me to document your wedding, Anna and Terry! Soooo happy for you two! xo
Anna and Terry's story: Terry and I were connected through mutual friends and agreed to meet for dinner on a Friday night in may at a restaurant on the lower east side in NYC for our first and somewhat blind first date. Our engagement a year and a half later began at that same restaurant on the lower east side when Terry invited me to dinner on a school (Thursday) night, something fairly uncommon in our typical work week routine, and certainly the only time we had been back to that restaurant since our first date. Despite having the above circumstances raise my suspicions that perhaps a proposal was coming over dinner. Terry and I proceeded to have a lovely, normal, non-proposing dinner and left the restaurant to walk home to our apartment while I metaphorically slapped myself on the wrist. We chatted the way home, up the long elevator ride to our apartment on the 18th floor and just before terry opened the door, he turned, said "you know I love you, right" and swung open the door to an apartment set with a path of candles leading to flowers, champagne, and a small white box. Terry then proceeded to say a myriad of kind, thoughtful words and all I could muster back to him were expletives...amongst which, apparently I had also managed to happily accept his proposal! The thing I love most about terry: his large, kind heart. And that he scratches my back before bed time. Very important. The thing that Terry loves most about me: "how thoughtful you are", he says... Very happy to be getting married in Maine as I was born and raised in Falmouth and Terry, growing up outside of Boston also vacationed at his families lake side home in Bridgton, Maine since he was a teenager. Our common love of all things Maine bonded us two New York City dwellers from the start of our courtship and we look forward to taking advantage of our mutual roots to the state for many years to come!
